Tara Button is Founder and CEO of BuyMeOnce.com.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Tara spent much of her time scheming with her best friend on how to save the world. She was then sent to boarding school in England at 11, and at the University in Edinburgh, she was inspired by working in the same cafés as Harry Potter’s JK Rowling and discovered her passion for writing.
After university, she did a masters in creative writing and then became an advertising copywriter after a brief stint in magazine publishing for the BBC.
As an advertising creative, she worked with the famous cookware brand le creuset. These pots are designed to be with you for life and to be past down to your grandchildren. She found herself wishing that more things were built to last and the idea for www.buymeonce.com was born.
After the Telegraph ran her story recently, Tara needed to shift gears and expand her concept to include not only the UK, but countries around the world.
During this interview Tara shares her journey into the world of entrepreneurship, how she developed the concept, and some really insightful tips for budding entrepreneurs and creatives in terms of responding the the call for action, managing fear, gaining support from others, monetizing her idea, and stepping out on faith by quitting her full-time job.
Check out her website at www.BuyMeOnce.com – you’ll find a growing list of ‘best in show’ products from around the world that are built to last.
