Courtney Amburg struggled with body confidence and hated herself into the change she wanted. After years of secretly taking diet pills, diuretics, and cycles of bingeing and restricting, she said ‘enough is enough’, picked up some dumbbells and was determined to find a different way.

And find a different way she did. Not only that, she discovered where true confidence comes from and how to develop it regardless of how she looked.  This renewed confidence gave her the courage to launch a career in fitness and nutrition, gaining her degree in Health and Exercise Science at The College of New Jersey. Now for the past decade, Courtney has been providing nutrition and fitness coaching to busy women who are tired of stressing and feeling guilty about their bodies, food, and exercise.

In her conversation with us today, Courtney shares her own story of feeling like the unpopular one at school – the chunky girl who wasn’t good at sports. She describes how she eventually lost the weight but still struggled with connecting with people. This led her to shift from trying to be skinny to focusing on being strong, healthy and confident in herself.  You’ll learn the steps she took to achieve this and how you can do the same on your own busy schedule. Intelligent, practical and sustainable, Courtney’s approach to fitness and nutrition is one that anyone can apply and succeed at.

Key Takeaways

  1. Don’t try to be skinny. Focus on becoming strong.
  2. Your body is going to do what it’s going to do. Stop worrying about what the scale says and instead measure your bio feedback. How well are you sleeping? What are your stress levels, sex drive, cravings, and mood?
  3. Make fitness and nutrition a sustainable practice.
  4. Don’t overthink it – just go do it and you’ll figure it out as you go.
  5. You need to eat enough so your body doesn’t hold onto whatever you do eat. Each diet cycle it gets harder to lose weight, because your body gets smart.
  6. Snacking seems to be our downfall as women.
  7. The best time to work out each day is when you can do it consistently.
