Accidental vs Intentional

Where you’re standing is not because of today or the last 8 months, but because of all the choices you’ve made all throughout your life.

We all go through Kubler Ross’ 5 stages of grief. Look at all of the pieces that were not working to be able to create something that will.

Flowing vs. Drifting

It’s like being in the moment vs. being completely uncertain. It’s being in the dance of surrender and just seeing what happens next vs. claiming what’s going to happen next or claiming whatever you’ve planned.

Neither of both works. Instead, learn how to rest in the moment. And being in this flow state keeps you in a state of ease. It’s a state of grace. There’s a piece of uncertainty – but there’s also that component of trust.

What is Purpose?

Your call or mission remains unchangeable. That’s what you’re designed to do. And if every single person had the courage to truly step into what they were called to do, the world would be a magical place.

However, most people are settling for what is comfortable, what is good, and what feels like they’re supposed to do. And the only way to get to that greatness is by doing something highly uncomfortable

Trust that it’s going to work out even if it doesn’t make sense. But if you don’t do your thing, the world misses out. When you don’t step in, not only you would miss out, but everybody else on the planet.

You don’t have to be the biggest difference-maker on the planet – you just have to do your part as part of what you’re being called to do.

Your mission is something you get and it’s yours. It’s something that doesn’t change. Your vision and your values may change, but your mission is yours. And you’ve got that from a very young age. You can shake it off and say you’re not going to play. But it will eventually show up in very interesting ways.

How to Find Your Purpose

Verbalize what moves you. Your mission is something that should move you to tears. It should move you in a way that you are so inspired by it.

Go back to your experiences when you were little. What are those experiences that touched you? And you’ll find that there are pieces that have already told you what you’re here to do on this planet. For some, it’s about vision. Whereas for others, it’s about their gifts or about fully claiming their voice and using that for good.

Questions to Help You Find Your Purpose
  • Find out what brings you joy.
  • What are you always doing automatically that nobody had to teach you that thing? Or that nobody had to convince you to do that thing?
  • Reflect on the things you’re great at.
  • What do you love doing? What are you passionate about?

The tricky piece to it is that what you’re rewarded for and have learned to do well, sometimes people believe that’s what comes naturally, and it’s not. So try to look back and ask yourself why that showed up and how that showed up? There’s far more than meets the eye. And that’s your purpose and your reason for being.

The 7 Pillars of Leadership
  1. Understanding their personality
  2. Creating partnerships with others
  3. Living your priority
  4. Understanding what’s most important to you
  5. Creating a meaningful and memorable presence
  6. Evaluating your product
  7. Being able to invest in your own development personally and professionally

When someone takes those seven pillars in taking the organization further because they’re connecting with their team, it allows the team members to flourish. It allows the leader to flourish and it also allows a little bit of light to be cast on the areas when something isn’t working.

The Bottleneck is Always at the Top

It starts with you. And when you start with yourself, everyone else around you would shift. Be the change that you want to see in the world, and the ripple effect that goes out from that is incredible.

You don’t change humanity. You change yourself. And once you change yourself, you then have the ability to see things a little bit differently. That’s the continual evolution of what leadership is. So, as you say, leaders of transformation.

A lot of people think it’s about leadership. It’s actually the leader itself, the person who is leading transformation, and it starts with you!
